Your Opportunity

As a Software Development Intern, you’ll work on the frontlines of academic data innovation and focus on improving the EBSCO Scholarly Graph (ESG) for academic libraries. You will collaborate with a software architect to design and implement AI-based strategies for entity reconciliation by connecting faculty and researcher profiles in FOLIO, an open-source library platform, with ESG profiles. You’ll also contribute to future planning to reconcile unique identifiers like ORCID and Wikidata IDs. This role is ideal for those eager to dive into AI-based data matching and knowledge graph technology to enhance library services. This remote position is U.S.-based only (excluding U.S. territories) 

What You'll Do

  • Assist in designing an AI-based reconciliation system for graph entities, helping improve connections between disparate systems 
  • Document reconciliation processes and workflows to support ongoing quality improvement 
  • Learn and apply Agile principles, contributing to an iterative and collaborative development process 
  • Contribute to open and closed source software development projects 
  • Maintain and enhance Knowledge Graph services, implementing software updates and fixes 
  • Update bibliographic data models to improve quality and interoperability of Linked Data 
  • Validate data transformation rules for accuracy and reliability 
  • Work alongside other software engineers to evaluate technology and consistently apply best practices for design, coding standards, performance, security, delivery, and maintainability

About You

Actively enrolled in a degree granting program, either graduate or undergraduate 

 

What Sets You Apart 

  • Hands-on experience with Neo4J, Amazon Neptune, or other graph databases is beneficial but not required 
  • Foundational knowledge of software development, data structures, and algorithms; familiarity with knowledge graphs and big data technologies is a plus 
  • Experience or coursework in data science, data integration, or machine learning, especially for entity resolution tasks 
  • An interest in using AI and data science to solve complex problems in scholarly and Linked Data 
  • Experience with web technologies and frameworks like Next.js is a plus

Pay Range

USD $22.00 - USD $26.00 /Hr.
